How To Write A Blog Post That Helps Your Followers

Do you wonder why people don't appreciate or pay much attention to you blog? Let me ask you this, do you write articles for your readers or for yourself? Many blogs fail because people write articles for themselves, and not the readers. Readers get bored and leave your site with one word...disappointment. The reason is because people are out to help one person: SELF. Yet, if we are to become something or make something great, it doesn't revolve around ourselves, but around helping others. Therefore, writing great blog posts revolve around helping the readers.

So, How Do I Write Blog Posts That Help?

Ask Questions That People Are Seeking For

When people find your blog, it us usually the result of searching in a place like google. When the search, it is because they are looking for something....duh! So when they get to your site, it's because they have questions. Your blog should include a question along the lines of the topic. This will help the reader to know that they are not the only one looking for the same topic. It helps them to realize that you, as an authority in your business, have the same questions. This helps your readers to trust you and relate to you.

Answer The Questions That People Ask

Now that you have a reader on your site as a result of a question, don't leave them hanging. As a blogger and blog reader, I find I stop trusting a site when there are more questions than answers. The ability to answer relevant questions not only helps your readers to continue to trust you, but you become a valuable resource to your readers. For instance, when I have a specific question, I have several blogs that I can go to, search their site, and find the answer to my questions. I trust them and I know I can find what I need based on the fact that their sites don't just talk, but are valuable and answer questions in their niche/business.

You might say, how do I know what people are seaching for? One great way is to look at your analyics. People will ask questions on the internet that they will never ask a live person. So, look at you analytics and study how people are arriving at your site. The top 5 search phrases wuold be great topics to write about. Simply take that list of phrases, make it a question, and write a post that answer that question.

Provide Top Lists

Once you have established yourself an an authority and help people find answers, then people trust you. So, when you come out and have a list, such as "5 Of The Best Affordable Websites", people will read you list, click your links (hopefully an affiliate link), and follow the direction you sent them. This type of article will normally be read more that any other articles. I read several blogs in which their "Top Lists" are ALWAYS the most read and most commented.

Make Your Post Easy To Scan

If your post is not able to be scanned in a matter of seconds by your reads, then you will lose them. Most readers will take a glance at your post, scroll through it in a few seconds, and if it's too long or does not have easy points that make a statement, they will leave. So, when they come to your page, it should have a relavant image, an introduction, a question, main points, and the "meat" or answers of your post under each point. This helps them find what they are looking for and lets them know that they have found a post worth reading.
